Many of you will remember the photo of Chelsea, a downhearted and emotionally dejected pit bull who hid in the corner of her kennel at the San Bernardino Shelter, as visitors passed her by.
That image garnered a lot of online attention and tugged at our heartstrings. Fortunately, we were able to rescue Chelsea back in February and although she was scared and timid during those first few weeks with us, she slowly came out of her shell.
Once she felt comfortable, we soon discovered that Chelsea had never been taught basic doggie manners (like not jumping up on people!), that she craved attention, loved belly rubs and believed that she was small enough to fit into your lap... which was a pretty tough fit for a 65 pound dog! Like most pit bulls, Chelsea was a quick learner and just wanted to please.
Chelsea was finally able to find a home of her own in late spring. Her new best friend and brother, Bucket turned out to be the perfect playmate! Both dogs are happy go lucky creatures who love to romp around in the backyard. Her new owner soon discovered that Chelsea is also very treat motivated, but who isn't?! Most importantly, Chelsea is now healthy, happy and loved by her new family!
