It is also a time to remember rescues that have found forever homes and celebrate the joy they have brought to our lives. For Nancy Heigl, one such dog was Pico My Guyo, a rescue from the LA shelter system that enriched her life beyond measure.

California, Groundbreaking Bill To Help Puppy Mill Pets Needs You!
California could soon make history as the first state in the country to ban all puppy mill pet store sales. Assembly Bill 485 has been passed by lawmakers and will now head to Governor Jerry Brown, who has until Oct. 15 to sign or veto it. Find out how you can help make sure this legislation becomes law!

Help put an end to substandard commercial breeding facilities that operate with an emphasis on profit above animal welfare.

The Fight To Save Keaton’s Leg After Shocking Shooting

When Keaton, a young Shepard mix, initially came into the shelter, he was unable to use his front limb. The shelter staff assumed he had been hit by a car, but shockingly x-rays revealed that Keaton had been shot and the bullet was still in his body. The bullet has shattered the bone and surgeons are now fighting to try and save his leg from amputation.
