Elle Named American Hero Dog 2013

The Pit Bull is a much maligned breed, with a reputation often fueled by sensationalist media reports and misguided breed specific legislation. 5 year old Elle is just another example of a pit bull who is proving legislators wrong. She was recently named by the American Humane Association as its 2013 American Hero Dog for her work as a therapy animal in North Carolina.

RIP Lennox: Killed By Breed Specific Legislation

Across the globe, animal lovers were united in outrage this week, following the euthanization of a dog in Northern Ireland. A two-year international campaign to save Lennox, an American Bulldog/Labrador mix with no history of aggression or behavioral issues, ended on Wednesday with the announcment from City Council officials that the 7-year-old dog had been killed. Lennox’s life was cut short not because of any unsavory deed or dangerous act that he had committed, but solely because of his appearance.
