Traveling In Style

The Foundation’s transport program is a collaborative effort that takes the work of many people to get the job done effectively. Our dedicated volunteers and shelter staff have joined together to save over 1,000 animals this year! We would like to take time to highlight Karin Krawiec, the owner and founder of Shelter Dog Coats, and her team for the amazing work they do in providing the jackets needed t send so many pets to safety

When we first interact with rescued animals, they are often frightened by new surroundings and an unsure future, so it always brightens our day to hear from the individuals or families that have adopted our four-legged friends to find out how they are faring in their new homes. From finding a new best friend, helping a family member cope with loss or just meeting the perfect snuggle buddy, we wanted to share some of these wonderful success stories with our friends.

Did you know that Heigl Foundation conducts regular transports from high kill shelters in Los Angeles to no kill facilities elsewhere in the US and Canada? In this reallocation of resources, we find animals that would be killed and bring them to other cities where there are lines waiting for our adorable adoptables! We have partners throughout the US and Canada.

A Four-Legged Surprise On Anderson Live

Anderson Cooper suprised Katherine Heigl on his daytime talk show Anderson Live last Friday, when a number of dogs that the Heigl Foundation had rescued from a high kill shelter in Los Angeles appeared in the studio. The puppies, who faced imminent euthanization, form part of a bi-monthly transport funded by the JDHF and facilitated through the North Shore Animal League of America.
