Vanilla's Battle

Meet our newest Heigl Hound of Hope, Vanilla! Vanilla is a 6 year old female pit bull mix that we just pulled from the Lancaster Shelter in Los Angeles county. The Heigl Foundation has never shied away from extreme cases, So, when our co-founder Nancy Heigl saw Vanilla’s desperate plight, she did not hesitate to offer help.

Saving Chelsea

Many of you will remember the photo of Chelsea, a downhearted and emotionally dejected pit bull who hid in the corner of her kennel at the San Bernardino Shelter, as visitors passed her by. That image garnered a lot of online attention and tugged at our heartstrings. Fortunately, we were able to rescue Chelsea back in February and find her a loving home.

Elle Named American Hero Dog 2013

The Pit Bull is a much maligned breed, with a reputation often fueled by sensationalist media reports and misguided breed specific legislation. 5 year old Elle is just another example of a pit bull who is proving legislators wrong. She was recently named by the American Humane Association as its 2013 American Hero Dog for her work as a therapy animal in North Carolina.
