The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation has received a $75,000 grant from television personality, bestselling author and animal rights advocate Rachael Ray to support our ongoing efforts to stem the pet overpopulation crisis. Ray made the presentation to Katherine Heigl live on the "Rachael Ray" syndicated show February 15th.

Katherine Heigl and talk show host Rachael Ray are both passionate animal advocates, so when the duo got together to chat on The Rachael Ray Show last Friday, they were soon joined in the studio by a few furry friends in need of loving homes. The first mobile spay/neuter day funded by the Heigl Ray Of Hope program took place on April 28 at Baldwin Park, CA. The event was a great success, with a large turn out for the initiative which offers free spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats in cities serviced by the Baldwin Park Shelter. In total, 38 animals were spayed or neutered in just a few hours, kicking off a number of mobile surgery days planned during the coming year.

Today the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation, in partnership with Rachael Ray and the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation, is launching a simple, no application, no paperwork, free spay/neuter program for dogs and cats in the cities of Baldwin Park and El Monte, cities serviced by the Baldwin Park Shelter. Residents need only make one phone call to register for an appointment!
