Milo

Some dogs win you over with their silly antics, some with their big personalities, and some simply by being the sweetest little souls you could hope to meet. Milo is one of those special dogs! This approximately 20-pound Jack Russell mix has all the adorable physical traits that make the breed so irresistible, wrapped up in a lovely white coat and a compact little body that’s just begging to be admired. Milo was part of the small gang of unsocialized strays rescued from the streets of Bakersfield, California, and brought to safety at the Jason Heigl Foundation in Oakley, Utah. Like his little companions, he arrived feeling unsure of the world and uncertain about people. He can still be shy and timid as he navigates new experiences, but underneath that cautious exterior is a dog his caretakers describe with one wonderful word: awesome! Milo is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and ready to find a home where he can finally enjoy the comfort, security, and affection every deserving dog should know.

One of the loveliest things about Milo is that his gentle nature extends to both people and other dogs. He gets along well with canine friends and is good with people, making him a sweet candidate for a family willing to give him the time he needs to feel at ease. He may not be the boldest dog in the room or the first to charge into an unfamiliar situation, but he doesn’t need to be. Milo needs a calm, patient person who understands that confidence grows when a dog feels safe and that trust is built through everyday kindness. Having spent his early life without the security of a home, he’ll need help adjusting to household routines and learning the ins and outs of home life, including consistent potty habits. A secure environment, careful supervision, and leash use whenever he’s outdoors are important, as fear can cause formerly unsocialized dogs like Milo to run if startled. With gentle encouragement, predictable routines, and perhaps another friendly dog to show him the ropes, he has a wonderful opportunity to blossom.

Milo has so much love and life ahead of him.
