It was early 2016, and Louisiana was experiencing unprecedented flooding. Delta Humane Society of Louisiana wanted to transport animals from Louisiana to some northern states to help relieve the pressure on local rescues and shelters. They needed funding fast and submitted a grant request to the JDHF.

It is also a time to remember rescues that have found forever homes and celebrate the joy they have brought to our lives. For Nancy Heigl, one such dog was Pico My Guyo, a rescue from the LA shelter system that enriched her life beyond measure.
