Minnie

Breed: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Gender: Female
Age: 2 Years Old

Meet Minnie! No, seriously, you must meet Minnie. Minnie doesn’t photograph well. But what she lacks in stunning good looks, she completely makes up for in personality. Every day, JDHF and other rescue groups in the greater Los Angeles area get pleas from shelter management to help hundreds animals. But it’s not every day that the shelter veterinarian emails us directly and asks us to help a particular dog. That was the case for Minnie. The shelter vet recognized how special she was, and asked us if we could help. We did.

Although people tend to think Minnie is older, it is only her soul that is old, as she is estimated to only be around 2 years old. Weighing around 45 pounds in a very compact body, Minnie is a very sweet dog who loves people and loves love in return. She is being fostered with other dogs, big and small, male and female, and gets along with all of them. She is happy playing with her canine friends or sleeping at your feet at night. She is housetrained, crate-trained, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She would benefit from leash training just due to her strength.

Minnie is getting over demodectic mange. Although not even close to the worst case we’ve seen, it’s one of the more persistent cases. Although she is negative for the mites, we’re still trying to see how much of her fur we can get to grow back. Of course, we don’t know what normal is for Minnie but it seems likely she may never have a luxurious coat. The upside is that it makes bath time super-easy. You can always tell people she’s an exotic breed, perhaps a Mexican Hairless Staffordshire Terrier.

Minnie is available for adoption in the Los Angeles area.
