DESCRIPTION

Meet Peggy, the dog who has it all (except a furever home).

If there were such a thing as a dog who was born knowing how to be everyone’s best friend, it would be Peggy.

This beautiful four-year-old Shepherd mix arrived at the Jason Heigl Foundation in Utah from California, where she was found as a stray. We have no idea how a dog this wonderful ended up wandering the streets, but we do know this: Peggy is ready to leave her stray days behind and find the family she was meant for.

Calm. Gentle. Easygoing. Great on a leash. Wonderful with adults and children. And absolutely madly in love with other dogs. Nothing seems to rattle Peggy. In fact, she was so calm and reassuring that she became the shelter’s unofficial canine therapist, helping other dogs decompress and feel safe. Peggy has serious Mom Energy—the kind of energy that says, “Come here, sweetheart. I’ve got you,” followed by a gentle nudge and a reassuring wag.

She’s the kind of dog who would fit beautifully into just about any family. Whether you’re looking for a walking buddy, a family dog, a dog-friendly companion for your current pup, or simply a four-legged best friend who brings peace and sweetness wherever she goes, Peggy is your girl.

Peggy is also carrying a few extra pounds—let’s just say she has been enjoying the shelter buffet a little too much. A little more exercise, some healthy meals, and an active family will have her working toward her best figure in no time. Luckily, Peggy already has the perfect motivation to get moving… with that said Peggy does have one weakness.

Water. Sprinkler? Peggy’s in. Kiddie pool? Absolutely. Swimming? Clear the schedule—Peggy has entered the chat.

The only thing that can temporarily distract this otherwise calm and composed girl is the sight, sound, or promise of water. She may be a dignified Shepherd mix, but mention swimming and suddenly she’s a Labrador trapped in a Shepherd’s body.

Peggy is gentle, loving, social, and wonderfully balanced. She has spent her time helping other dogs feel safe. Now it’s her turn to be the one who gets to decompress, settle in, and know what it feels like to be home.

If you’re looking for a dog who is basically the friendliest person you know—except she has four legs, fur, and an inexplicable passion for sprinklers—Peggy is waiting to meet you. Located in Oakley, Utah. Vaccinated, microchipped and spayed.
