Best Buddies: Lenny & Squiggy
Adorable puppies Lenny and Squiggy are the two latest additions to the Heigl Hounds of Hope, our internal rescue group which saves vulnerable dogs from high kill shelters in Southern California. The pit bull and chihuahua duo have quickly become the best of friends!

Remembering Henry – A Very Special Foster
Recently, we were once again faced with that decision pet owners everywhere know all too well. You may remember a couple of our social media posts about Henry, our “fospice” Heigl Hound of Hope. Henry came to us nearly two years ago from a busy Los Angeles area shelter where he was observed having seizures.

Welcome To Our New Website!
Dear Friends and Supporters, It has been a long time in coming, but we are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have a new and improved website! This new website is not only updated and optimized for mobile devices, but the streamlined design allows us to focus on the three initiatives that are closest to our hearts: spay/neuter programs; advocacy and supporting other non-profits in the animal welfare world; and, of course, our own animal rescue program, Heigl Hounds of Hope.

Vanilla – A Very Painful Loss

It's been a tough week for us here at the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation. It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Heigl Hound of Hope Vanilla. Rescuing animals is not easy. If love were all it takes to heal a dog, you can bet none of our rescues would ever die. Vanilla was a very special dog and she will be greatly missed.

Update: Vanilla Needs Surgery To Stop Tumors Spreading

Vanilla was rescued from a high-skill shelter in desperate need of medical care. Emaciated from a chronic illness which prevented her jaw from opening and with tumors on her abdomen, she was clinging to life. 7 weeks later she has gained 10lbs, but for all the progress made, unfortunately her tumors have gotten worse and require surgery. However, Vanilla is a dog simply not willing to give up!

The Fight To Save Keaton’s Leg After Shocking Shooting

When Keaton, a young Shepard mix, initially came into the shelter, he was unable to use his front limb. The shelter staff assumed he had been hit by a car, but shockingly x-rays revealed that Keaton had been shot and the bullet was still in his body. The bullet has shattered the bone and surgeons are now fighting to try and save his leg from amputation.
