Heavens Home Rescue is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. Based in Sanford, North Carolina, the rescue has no paid employees and relies on the generosity of its founders, volunteers and public donations to fund their life saving work on the frontline of animal welfare.

With approximately 60 dogs currently in their care, Heavens Home Rescue provides food, shelter, medication and veterinary treatment to animals in desperate need. Many of the dogs have been abandoned, neglected or abused, while others have simply been surrendered to high kill shelters by owners unable to care for them.
In addition to saving vulnerable dogs, Heavens Home Rescue runs initiatives to provide affordable spay/neuter surgeries, heartworm treatment, vaccinations and microchipping services to help reduce future shelter admissions. Staff also work with owners that are considering surrendering pets with behavioral issues, to resolve these problems and reduce pressure on overcrowded local shelters.
